Code of Conduct

These Community Standards and Code of Conduct apply to all members and guests in connection with any Sunset Tennis Club membership, session, class, event, or program. By purchasing a membership, booking a session, or attending Sunset programming, each member acknowledges and agrees to follow these standards.

01

Dress Code

Players should arrive in proper tennis attire within Sunset’s signature black-and-white color palette. Tennis-specific, non-marking shoes are required for safety and court protection. The Club will make reasonable accommodations to this policy where required by applicable disability, medical, or religious accommodation law. Members needing an accommodation should contact the Club through the channel in Section 5.

02

Respectful Conduct

Members and guests must treat coaches, staff, members, guests, venue partners, and neighbors with courtesy and respect. Harassment, bullying, intimidation, discrimination, aggressive behavior, or inappropriate language will not be tolerated. This includes discrimination or harassment on the basis of any characteristic protected under the California Unruh Civil Rights Act, the Fair Employment and Housing Act, where applicable, or other applicable federal or state law.

03

Sportsmanship

Members are expected to bring a friendly, positive, and collaborative attitude to every session, and to respect line calls, rotations, playing levels, coaching decisions, and other players’ time on court. Competitive energy is welcome. Disrespectful behavior is not.

04

Safety and Coaching Guidance

Members and guests must follow all instructions from Sunset coaches and staff, including decisions related to safety, player placement, group levels, and court conduct. The Club reserves the right to move a player to a more appropriate class or level for safety or programmatic reasons.

05

Communication, Questions, and Concerns

The Club is committed to addressing member questions and concerns promptly and fairly. Members with a question, concern, or complaint, including regarding a possible violation of these Standards, should contact the Club in writing via email at info@sunsettennisclub.com.

Members should include their name, membership information, and a description of the issue, including relevant dates, sessions, or event details, so the Club can respond efficiently.

Billing and Session Disputes

Any dispute regarding a charge, cancellation fee, or event invoice should be raised in writing within thirty (30) days of the charge in question. The Club will review documentation from both the Member and Club records before issuing a final determination.

Good Faith and Non-Retaliation

The Club asks that all communications under this Section be conducted in good faith and consistent with Section 2. The Club will not retaliate against a Member for raising a good-faith concern, including a complaint about harassment or discrimination.

06

Privacy and Content

Members and guests must respect the privacy of fellow members. Members must not photograph, film, or post another person who has asked not to be recorded, and any request to stop recording must be honored immediately. The Club may occasionally capture photo or video content during sessions and events. Members may notify the Club through the channel in Section 5 if they prefer not to appear in Club photos or videos.

07

Punctuality and Attendance

Members must arrive on time and follow the applicable booking and cancellation policies. Repeated late cancellations, no-shows, or disruptive late arrivals may affect booking privileges, consistent with the enforcement process in Section 12.

08

Care for Courts and Venues

Members must help protect the private courts and partner venues that make Sunset programming possible, including by following all property rules, leaving spaces clean, and treating equipment and facilities with care. Members are responsible for damage they or their guests cause, subject to applicable law.

09

Guest Responsibility

Members are responsible for ensuring that their guests understand and follow these Standards. Guest access remains subject to availability, eligibility, and the Club’s approval.

10

No Unauthorized Business Activity

Solicitation, selling products or services, outside coaching, promotional filming, or organizing competing activities during Sunset programming is not permitted without the Club’s prior written approval.

11

Protecting the Sunset Culture

Every Member contributes to the atmosphere of the Club. Members are asked to support a culture that is warm, inclusive, considerate, and aligned with Sunset’s values, both on and off the court.

12

Policy Enforcement

The Club may respond to a violation of these Standards with a reminder, a written warning, removal from a session or event, temporary suspension, restriction of booking privileges, or termination of membership, depending on the severity and frequency of the conduct. Except in cases involving safety, harassment, discrimination, or serious misconduct, the Club will provide notice and a reasonable opportunity for the Member to respond before termination.

Serious conduct, including harassment, discrimination, threats, violence, intentional safety violations, property damage, or repeated disregard of these Standards, may result in immediate suspension or termination.

Any fees, credits, or refunds following a suspension or termination will be handled according to the Membership Agreement and applicable California law. The Club will apply these Standards in good faith, consistently, and without unlawful discrimination.

13

Accessibility and Accommodation

The Club is committed to providing access to individuals with disabilities in accordance with the ADA and the California Unruh Civil Rights Act. Members needing a reasonable accommodation to any policy in these Standards should contact the Club through the channel described in Section 5.1.

14

Governing Law

These Standards are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute arising under these Standards that is not resolved through the process in Section 5 will be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts located in Los Angeles County, California, except where applicable law requires or permits an alternative forum, such as small claims court.

15

Class Credits and Event Ticket Purchases

Class credits expire thirty (30) days after the purchase date and do not roll over. Tickets purchased for any Sunset Tennis Club events or tournaments are non-refundable.
